*Job Summary*

The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the automotive repair shop, managing a team of 4 technicians, 1 apprentice, and 1 shop assistant. This is a hands-on role that involves supervising workflow, ensuring quality standards, and working alongside the technicians to maintain high levels of productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction. The Shop Foreman will also serve as the lead technical advisor, troubleshooting and solving complex mechanical issues, while ensuring that all shop procedures are followed efficiently.

*Key Responsibilities*

**Leadership and Supervision**:

- Manage and oversee the work of 4 technicians, 1 apprentice, and 1 shop assistant.
- Assign work orders and ensure jobs are completed on time and meet quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and offer constructive feedback to improve skills and productivity.
- Lead daily team meetings to communicate shop priorities, safety protocols, and performance goals.

**Technical Duties**:

- Perform diagnostic services and repairs on vehicles alongside technicians, with a focus on complex and high-priority repairs.
- Ensure that all work adheres to industry standards and complies with safety regulations.
- Test vehicle systems and components to ensure repairs are effective and complete.
- Stay up to date on the latest vehicle technology, repair techniques, and tools.

**Workflow and Shop Operations**:

- Maintain and optimize workflow within the 9-bay shop, ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity.
- Review and approve work orders, time estimates, and parts orders.
- Monitor and maintain the shop’s tools and equipment, ensuring they are in proper working order.
- Ensure the shop is clean, organized, and free from safety hazards.
- Coordinate scheduling for technicians, ensuring adequate coverage during peak times.

**Customer Interaction**:

- Work closely with the service advisor to ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded.
- Provide technical explanations to customers when necessary.
- Address any customer concerns or complaints related to the quality or timeliness of repairs.

**Training and Development**:

- Mentor and train the apprentice, helping them develop technical skills and knowledge.
- Continuously identify opportunities for professional development for all shop employees.
- Facilitate ongoing training on new automotive technologies and repair techniques.

*Qualifications*
- **10+ years of experience** as a technician in an automotive repair shop, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong diagnostic and technical skills, with proficiency in modern vehicle repair technology and diagnostic tools.
- **Expertise in Diesel Engine diagnostics and repair** is required.
- **Experience with Medium Duty Trucks up to 5 Ton** is required.
- **Experience with Motorhomes, Trailers, and Recreational Vehicles** is required.
- **Knowledge of Out-of-Province Commercial and Personal Vehicle inspection/repair** is essential.
- Ability to manage a busy, high-volume repair shop efficiently.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- **Red Seal certification** (or equivalent) preferred but not required.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience implementing safe work practices.
