Job Summary
The Employment Trainer is responsible for delivering employment services geared to the needs of specific target groups within the full-suite employment model. This position, in consultation with the Employment Services team, is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the workshops and training sessions delivered within Employment Services.
Position Responsibilities
Direct Client Service
- Design, develop and deliver workshops, information sessions, and training sessions based on
client need and geared to virtual, distance, hybrid, and in-person services.
- Adjust sessions and workshop plans to accommodate individual and group needs, creating a
positive learning environment for clients.
- Use evidence-based approaches to evaluate workshop effectiveness and to adjust as
needed.
- Manage group dynamics.
- Provide information and resources to clients.
- Reduce barriers to access for the populations served by the program.
- Support clients in their job search.
- Provide direct one-on-one support to clients in a client-centered manner in areas such as
social media and LinkedIn, resume development, portfolios, value propositions, references,
interview skills, and networks.
- Assist in promotional activities and client recruitment/outreach including community
presentations.
- Establish working relationships with relevant agencies/services that support client needs.
- Make referrals to other staff and/or agencies pertaining to relevant client issues.
- Provide assistance with intake/assessment processes.
- Monitor client attendance and report as required.
- Maintain awareness of current issues and developments in the respective field.
- Provide financial supports to clients in keeping with program guidelines.
- Track financial supports provided to clients.
Administration and Clerical
- Maintains electronic/paper client records and protects the confidentiality of the
information.
- Performs administrative functions as required by the program.
- Assists in maintaining the program database by entering data, generating reports,
supporting analysis, and regular auditing of data integrity.
- Ensures all data is accurate and entered on a timely basis.
- Collects statistics and prepares reports as required.
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Maintains effective communication of information among internal and external
stakeholders.
- Assists in the development of program specific policies and procedures/guidelines and in
the overall planning and development of the program.
- Participates in the evaluation component of relevant program.
- Participates in the internal chart audit process.
- Provides support to clients of team members as needed.
- Provides resources and support to program staff pertaining to specific client issues.
- Participates in staff development as appropriate to the position.

- Fosters an environment of continuous learning through staff mentoring and development
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences or related field or equivalent combination of experience
and education
Professional Experience
- 3 to 5 years experience in the following areas:
- Facilitation and/or employment counseling in related field
- Experience in employment related initiatives
Key Competencies
- Knowledge of issues, trends and legislation in the employment field and the labour market
- Certified in, or have demonstrated knowledge of common assessment tools
- An understanding of the factors affecting employability
- Knowledge of adult learning principles
- Knowledge of instructional design
- Experience in and knowledge of group facilitation principles
- Knowledge of community and social service resources, in particular services for job seekers
- Experience in workshop planning, development and delivery over a variety of platforms
