**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Program Manager, ASPIRE AC, The AC Hub, Spiritual Centre. The Aspire AC Peer support Mentor engages Learners registered with Aspire AC (Learners who need support to access, transition, and succeed at post-secondary education) in developing their skills, strengths and use of supports to overcome barriers and challenges towards achieving their post-secondary credentials. The incumbent develops individualized plans with Learners that enables them to take progressive steps that build their confidence, and competence at Algonquin College.

The incumbent receives Learner profiles as part of a triage system for the program and begins to engage the Learner based on their identified needs. Following this engagement meetings are scheduled with the Learner. The incumbent provides referrals to services of the Aspire AC program to the Learner, I.e. Peer tutoring, Strengths assessment planning, job coaching etc. The incumbent also helps the Learner to access supports within he college that can contribute to their success at College. I.e. Counselling, Centre for Accessible Learning etc.

The Aspire AC Program and works with the learners to a develop fulsome support plan to ensure the Learner remains motivated in their college pursuits.

The incumbent represents the Aspire Program at College wide open houses, campus village events, AC Day 1, drop in booths and workshops. The incumbent will plan and facilitate short workshops to assist the student in college life, i.e. Brightspace, Student Support Services, study skills, work/life balance.

The incumbent provides positive informative communications to learners. The incumbent integrates the supports of Aspire AC for learners in the program ensuring that they are supported as they journey through their Program towards graduation, and meaningful employment, accessing necessary services along their post-secondary journey.

Required Qualifications:
**Education**:
3 year diploma/degree or equivalent: Social Work, Education, Administration. Preference to AC students and graduates with lived experience attending post-secondary as a student facing barriers.

**Experience**:
Minimum of three (3) years: Client service, planning, education, administration

Anticipated Weekly Schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (24 hours)
