The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) practices the culturally responsive pedagogy approach in providing an inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically to the 59,000 residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties, an area of 5,250 square kilometres and a total of 23 schools.

**Rate of Pay**: $58,531/annually to start

**Work Schedule**: 7 hours per day, 12 months of the year

**Start Date**:Permanent effective immediately

**Role**: The Supervisor is responsible for assisting with pedagogical leadership and support for Early Childhood Educators within Pre-Primary Programs. The Supervisor will have a thorough knowledge of, and experience with, the Nova Scotia Early Learning Curriculum Framework, which will guide their support of Early Childhood Educators in Pre-Primary. The Supervisor will work collaboratively with Regional Centre for Education Staff, Education and Early Childhood Development Staff, Principals, Pre-Primary Early Childhood Educators, and community partners.

**Quali**f**ications and Experience**
- Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies plus 3 years of recent experience or Diploma in Early Childhood Education plus 5 years of recent experience
- Experience within the Pre-Primary Program would be considered an asset
- Should have experience providing pedagogical leadership in an early learning setting
- Should have experience working with community partners
- Should have a thorough knowledge of the Nova Scotia Early Learning Curriculum Framework

**Responsibilities**:

- Within a collaborative environment, assists in overseeing the daily operation of the Pre-Primary Program to ensure it is delivered in accordance with established program requirements, policies, and procedures related to early learning programs within the Regional Centre for Education.
- In cooperation with the Facilitator of Pre-Primary and the Early Childhood Educator teams, is responsible for ensuring routine based plans are created for children who require additional supports and services to prepare for their transition to primary.
- In collaboration with the Facilitator of Pre-Primary and the Pre-Primary Consultant (EECD), utilizes an in-depth knowledge of growth and development, demonstrated knowledge and experience using a play-based pedagogy and child-centered, developmentally appropriate practices to ensure the program and services meet the diverse developmental needs of all children.
- Using a foundation of authentic assessment strategies, provides advice, options, and direction to the Early Childhood Educators on complex situations/cases that may arise within the Pre-primary Program and stays informed of trends that are impacting the delivery of the program. Is one of the key contacts with parents who may be experiencing issues and concerns within the Pre-primary Program and works to resolve matters of concern within a reasonable time frame.
- Liaises with Principals and operational managers at the Regional Centre for Education, as well as the Facilitator of Pre-Primary, NS-BAP Partners, and other EECD staff as necessary to ensure that programs and services are meeting the needs of children while respecting the integrity and intent of the Pre-Primary Program.
- Utilizes their knowledge of services and partners available in the geographic area of responsibility to build and strengthen key relationships within the Pre-Primary Program. Champions early learning program priorities to community service delivery partners and the general public, and is able to recommend appropriate services for children and families to ensure they are well supported in meeting their needs.
- Assists with managing human resources including recruitment, hiring, assignment of work, development and evaluation of performance plans, and approval of leave. Establishes and continuously improves a team-based environment through effective coaching, mentoring and supervising. Ensures compliance with relevant standards such as OHS and Labour Standards. Assesses individual and group training requirements and arranges to provide training to meet these needs.
