The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) practices the culturally responsive pedagogy approach in providing an inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically to the 59,000 residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties, an area of 5,250 square kilometres and a total of 23 schools.

**Scope of Responsibilities**

Under the supervision of the Director of Programs and Student Services and working in collaboration with the School Principal, the Pre-Primary Facilitator is accountable to provide advice and guidance to the Region for the implementation of the Pre
- Primary program and Early Years Centres in public schools in Nova Scotia. This includes contributing to the development, planning, monitoring and evaluation of effective policies, procedures and program implementation. The Pre-primary Facilitator will provide pedagogical leadership and direction and support in the daily operations of the Pre-primary Program.

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of a Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Valid Standard First Aid
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks

**Experience**:

- Three to five years’ experience in a supervisory position;
- A minimum of five years’ experience in early childhood education;
- Experience with developmentally appropriate observation, documentation and authentic assessment strategies;
- Experience working with children and families with diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences, and developmental needs.

**Abilities**:

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience using a play-based pedagogy and child-centred, developmentally appropriate practices;
- Ability to manage staff;
- Demonstrated communication skills to maintain relationships with parents and school administration;
- Ability to translate theory and best practices into action in early childhood settings;
- Ability to create inclusive and responsive early learning environments that support the diverse and special needs of all children;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

The Pre-primary Facilitator will oversee all sites within the South Shore Regional Centre for Education. Duties include but are not limited to:

- Overseeing the planning and implementation of policies, processes, communications, change management and relationship management that enables the Pre-Primary Program and Early Years Centres to be implemented within the public school system.
- Providing direction and support to the Early Childhood Educators (ECE) and working collaboratively with regional. staff
- Liaising with Principals, the Primary Teachers, Lead ECEs, Early Years Branch staff - Operational managers and Pre-primary Consultants, and community partners.
- Managing the financial resources of the Pre-Primary program and Early Years Centres, including procurement activities for the purchase of materials, supplies and resources.
- Establishing and continuously improving a team based environment through effective coaching, mentoring and supervising.
- Assessing individual and group training requirements and arranging to provide training to meet those needs.
