Material Planner/inventory Controller

**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Health and Safety.
- Maintain safe and positive work environment.
- Lead by example in all Health and Safety areas.
- Wear PPE as required in the plant all times.
- Report all safety concerns.

- Maintain respectful discourse with all Team members, customers and suppliers.

**Inventory Control**
- Lead inventory control process by performing inventory cycle counts and investigating variances.
- Perform administrative procedures related to inventory control.
- Assist with tracking material shortages, investigate discrepancies.
- Develop process’s driving inventory performance to align with company goals.(Accuracy, structure, size & efficiency)

**Off Shift Hand Off**
- Effectively deal with customer/supplier concerns during shift and communicate to opposite shifts.
- Responsible to ensure shipping practices are understood and utilized during shift.
- Correctly assess whether required parts can be issued from either in-stock inventory, in-house manufacturing or sub-contracted to outside vendors

**Purchasing**
- Assist where needed on releases to vendors.
- Source new possible vendors for current and future production requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance by gathering data and producing reports.
- Receiving and labelling of steel coils.
- Reconciling receiving discrepancies.
- Obsolete inventory reconciliation.

**Communication**
- Work with production management to clearly communicate customer requirements.
- Be adept at working both independently and as part of a team.
- Escalate issues to management in a timely manner.
- Other duties as required.

**PHYSICIAL AND ENVIRONMENT**

Combination of walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching and sitting for entire shift.

Travel; valid driver’s license and passport to travel outside of Canada.

Moderate too high stress environment; concrete floors, metal parts.

Office environment; use of computer, printers, faxes, monitors and various software.

Wear prescribed safety gear/PPE at all times.

- Raw Material Purchasing: 1 year (preferred)
- Automotive: 2 years (preferred)

**Education**
- Post-secondary accreditation preferably in Supply Chain Management or Purchasing
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
