**About the Position**:
Reporting to the Director of Purchasing, the Buyer provides IHL Canada with customer-focused insights regarding our product mix of construction and trades-related goods. The successful incumbent will require strong administrative, time management and analytical skills. In addition, they must have the capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently within a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to change.

The Buyer will work with internal stakeholders to ensure the proper administration and management of Purchase Orders, (creating, reconciling, cancelling of Purchase Orders). In addition, the team member will resolve all product-driven shipping & receiving issues while reconciling the backlog reports for assigned suppliers.

**Core Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Create and issue purchase orders and coordinate shipments with suppliers.
- Maintain accurate ETAs in the system for sales and customer service to educate end-users effectively.
- Ensure daily review of stock levels and minimize stock outs.
- Analyze sales history, future demand input from sales, on hand inventory and maintain accurate re-order levels for replenishment.
- Maintain vendor price file accuracy and ensure all price changes are up-to-date in the ERP system.
- With the guidance of the category managers update sell prices in the system to ensure competitiveness.
- Strive to attain a balance between best possible purchase price, product quality and lead time for the benefit of the company.
- Actively manage backorders in the system and close out all inactive purchase orders.
- Tackle and complete any purchase order discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Work closely with warehouse teams and relay accurate receiving information for ease of transaction.
- Follow through with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Hold suppliers accountable for on time and accurate order fulfillment.
- Coordinate with category managers to identify opportunities to reconcile vendors and rationalize underperforming SKUs.

**Required Experience and Qualifications**:

- 2+ years experience as a buyer, preferably in a distribution organization
- 2+ years experience dealing with product seasonality
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel for compiling, analyzing and presenting large SKU sets and complex data

**Interpersonal Skills & Abilities**
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Able to prioritize and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced, high volume environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly effective interpersonal and leadership skills
