The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) seeks a **full-time, indeterminate** **Program Manager to lead its Southeast Asia Research and Programs**. The Program Manager has extensive knowledge about this sub-region and can conduct an unbiased analysis of issues, events, and policies that are of interest in building Canada-Asia relations.

The Program Manager, Southeast Asia, will lead a small team in analyzing, reporting, and presenting issues in the region to a Canadian audience. This involves supporting APF Canada's proprietary platform, the Canada Asia Sustainability Tracker (CAST), with regular updates on issues in Southeast Asia that can impact Canadian interests in the region. This includes overseeing a small team of researchers who write CAST Events and _Insights_, as well as working closely with other divisions of APF Canada's research team to develop research products that support a better understanding of the Asia Pacific in Canada, such as briefing notes, _Dispatches_, and reports.

The position reports to the Vice-President, Research and is based at APF Canada's Vancouver downtown office on a Hybrid Schedule of two days of on-site reporting and three days of off-site/remote with occasional mandatory office reporting for Foundation-wide events.

**Successful applicants will have the following qualifications**:

- PhD. or Master's degree or an equivalent work experience in a related field, such as Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, or Asian Studies, with a specific focus on Southeast Asia;
- 3-to-5 years of previous work in government, think tanks, research organizations, or journalism;
- Understanding and interest in Southeast Asian studies, including politics, economics, society, current affairs, international relations, security, and environmental issues;
- Excellent demonstrated written and spoken communication skills;
- Proficiency in a Southeast Asian language;
- Demonstrated ability for project management and team management;
- Proficiency in French will be considered an asset.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Lead the design, development, and execution of Southeast Asia-focused regional research;
- Contribute expert knowledge about Southeast Asia as a region
- Stay on top of news and issues occurring in Southeast Asia to guide and manage the division's priorities;
- Manage the Southeast Asia Research Team and contribute regularly to APF Canada's proprietary platform - the Canada Asia Sustainability Tracker (CAST);
- Prepare and produce deliverables, including, but not limited to, briefing notes, _Dispatches_, reports, and presentations;
- Co-ordinate and facilitate meetings, consultations, and partnership events;
- Prepare project reports and action plans;
- Contribute research/analysis pieces focused on the Asia-Pacific relations with Canada;
- Supervise and guide junior staff and research scholars;
- Provide other research support as needed;

**Compensation**

Salary is commensurate with experience (salary range is $56,100 - $75,000) with a comprehensive health benefits package, Bonus Program, and Registered Retirement Saving Plan (RRSP).
