**Position**:Full-Time
**POSITION FUNCTION**
The **Volunteer & Event Specialist** is responsible for the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers and ensures effective volunteer management practices and standards. Provides opportunities to support the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and contribute to personal fulfillment. In collaboration with the
Community Engagement & Information Coordinator, plan and facilitate events such as holiday parties, welcome functions, presentations, and community outreach.
**DESIRED MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Postsecondary education from a recognized University or College in Volunteer Management OR in Social Services AND 2 years of experience that is relevant to this position;
- Supervisory experience would be an asset;
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment;
- Excellent written and oral skills in English and French (an asset);
- Proven initiative and strong organizational skills;
- Knowledge of local and national resources;
- Specialized knowledge of protocol and issues facing military families and military communities;
- Current CPIC including Vulnerable Sector Check;
- Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
- Must be eligible to undergo Department of National Defence reliability screening; continued employment is conditional on obtaining the appropriate reliability clearance.
**WORK CONDITIONS, SALARY AND BENEFITS**
- 37.5 hours per week
- Starting at $42,382.00 (after probation)

**FONCTIONS**
Le ou la **Spécialiste des bénévoles et des événements** est responsable du recrutement, de la formation et de la supervision des bénévoles et assure des pratiques et des normes efficaces de gestion des bénévoles. Il offre des occasions de soutenir les Forces armées canadiennes (FAC) et de contribuer à l'épanouissement personnel. Planifier et animer des événements tels que des fêtes, fonctions d'accueil, présentations et activités de sensibilisation communautaire, en collaboration avec la Coordonnatrice de l'information et de l'engagement communautaire.
**CONNAISSANCES, FORMATION ET EXPÉRIENCE MINIMALES SOUHAITÉES**
- Formation postsecondaire d'une université ou d'un collège reconnu en gestion des bénévoles OU en services sociaux ET deux années d’expérience approfondies pertinentes pour ce poste;
