**Who We Are**:
**Who We Are**

London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) is a world-class academic health sciences centre located in the southwestern Ontario city of London. Just two hours from Toronto and two hours from Detroit, London features a beautiful and walkable downtown core located on the Thames River, a vibrant culinary scene and scores of activities that highlight local arts, culture and music. As one of Canada’s largest acute-care teaching hospitals, LHSC delivers world-class care and experiences, built on our commitment to excellence in research, innovation, and learning. In partnership with our communities, we design and advance healthcare to support he wellness of the populations we serve. LHSC delivers both local and regional services, including the Children’s Hospital, within a large geographic area. LHSC is known for its great people and great care, with a workforce of close to 15,000, dedicated to delivering the highest quality patient care while partnering with communities to transform health, one life at a time.

The Office of Capacity Management (OCM) at LHSC is a large integrated portfolio that includes all LHSC beds, bed management, patient access and flow, surgical peri-operative services and centralized staffing teams. Charged with optimizing surgical volumes and patient flow in support of patient access, the OCM is a broad corporate portfolio that reached across multiple levels of LHSC. Hospitals in Ontario continue to have more demand for health services than available capacity. Central to the success of LHSC will be our ability to improve hospital bed utilization while maintaining a high standard of clinical care. The Office of Capacity Management was designed and launched to synergize between inpatient bed access and flow and surgical peri-op suites to maximize regional access to services.

Within the Office of Capacity Management, Perioperative Care Services at LHSC offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach to high quality, patient and family centered care across the continuum of care. The Perioperative Care services are offered at both the University and Victoria Hospital Sites of LHSC. Perioperative Care consists of all LHSC Operating Room (OR) Surgical Grids and surgeries, the Pre-Admit Clinic, the Nazem Kadri Surgical Centre, Day Surgery and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), completing over 17,000 surgical cases annually. In addition to the services documented at each site the Perioperative Teams are committed to improving patient care through many research initiatives.
