**Duties**:
Reporting to the Manager of Alumni and Donor Relations, the Advancement and Alumni Relations Coordinator will lead day to day activities related to Alumni Engagement. The Coordinator will support the programs and activities for our alumni, and the VIU Alumni Association.

Maintain alumni website, social media presence, and create advancement and alumni e-newsletters on a regular basis. Maintain alumni database through Raiser's Edge and Student Records. Seek out and contact alumni who have lost contact with VIU. Plan and execute regular alumni professional development workshops, social events and engagement activities. Monitor, promote and update new alumni perks app, work with businesses participating in the alumni benefits program and solicit new businesses. Monitor and promote the Ten Thousand Coffees online mentorship program and the partnership with the VIU Career Studio for alumni and students. Conduct regular data sweeps to ensure accuracy of records. Provide reports, data lists and alumni benefits to all registered alumni. Attend and keep records of all VIU Alumni Association meetings. Represent VIU alumni at community events. Assist the Advancement and Alumni Office in planning meetings, accepting special assignments, assisting colleagues and providing support for all ongoing programs and operations including annual convocation ceremonies and receptions. Work with our communications team in the development and writing of the VIU Magazine - Alumni News section and monthly alum of the month profiles.

**Required Qualifications**:
A postsecondary degree or a combination of relevant comparable skills and experience. Minimum three years' experience working in alumni relations, including marketing and communications, public event organization, and fund raising or business administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Not-for-profit or public sector experience.
- Key stakeholder and volunteer relations experience.
- Demonstrated experience in managing print and electronic communication projects.
- Ability to work with students, alumni, board members, as well as volunteers.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong ability to take initiative and take independent action.
- Excellent organization and project management skills.
- Team player with proven experience working effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to exercise considerable judgment and deal with staff and alumni with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
- Service oriented skills and abilities.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of database research and maintenance, preferably with Raiser's Edge, NXT is considered an asset.
- MS Office experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers' License and a confirmed satisfactory driving record

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Graduate of VIU. Proven project management skills; creative, flexible, and possess a positive approach when working with a variety of people; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work efficiently under deadline pressure; knowledge of social networking sites.
