Come join the Development Permit Inspections team which is responsible for ensuring that new developments in the City of Edmonton are constructed in accordance with zoning bylaw regulations, and supporting the City’s infill goals.
The Planner II - Supervisor of Development Permit Inspections is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the operations of the Development Permit Inspections program, including leading frontline and administrative team members, and leading project and strategic work. Project and strategic work will include analyzing the impacts of Zoning Bylaw changes, engaging internal and external stakeholders, and making recommendations and adjustments to the program to ensure effectiveness and evolution as our City grows.

- Oversee the completion, quality, and quantity of inspections and enforcement work within the program’s mandate - including regular compliance inspector file reviews and assessment of efficacy of procurement/remedial actions
- Build and maintain strong relationships within the department, across the corporation and with external city building partners
- When required, lead the procurement of services, supervise consultants, and manage project contracts and budgets in compliance with City policies and procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Political Sciences, Management
- Minimum four years of progressively responsible planning experience that includes supervising front line inspections, planning, compliance/enforcement teams, project management, change management, or program development
- Course work/training/certification in project management, change management, facilitation/engagement, training/education, process improvement and/or service design would be an asset
- Eligibility or full membership in the Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) and Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) is also considered an asset
- Demonstrated experience working with and knowledge of planning and land use regulations such as the Municipal Government Act, Provincial Offences Procedure act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and other related planning and enforcement regulations
- Demonstrated generalized knowledge of landscaping and horticulture, lot grading, and architecture in relation to land use planning, the Zoning, Bylaw, and development issues in a municipal context
- Proficiency and familiarity with reading construction blueprints, landscaping plans, plot plans, and real property reports
- Demonstrated experience leading project and subsequent change management activities - including experience in project management roles and with stakeholder engagement facilitation
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to manage and resolve confrontational situations and deal effectively with sensitive issues on a continuous basis
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods including data analysis
- Knowledge of standard statistical techniques and research methodology
- Ability to type quickly and effectively, with a high level of proficiency communicating in English
- Demonstrated proficiency with: Google Sheets,, Tableau and other data and data visualization apps
- Familiarity with City enterprise systems including but not limited to POSSE, AEGIS, EAGLEVIEW and SLIM

**Hours of Work**: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
**Salary**: $49.681 - $63.399 (Hourly); $87,525.50 - $111,693.19 (Annually)
