As a Strategic Business Planner on the Business Planning and Performance team in either the Community Services, you will develop and carry out approaches that support Department leaders in planning for the future of the City of Edmonton. This includes partnering with leaders while sharing your passion, expertise, and professionalism to ensure the development of business plans and budgets, measurement and monitoring of business performance, and management of risks and opportunities.

- Lead the development and implementation of processes for business and budget planning, policy development, enterprise performance management, and risk management within the Department.
- Design and facilitate strategic conversations translating corporate direction into actionable plans and aligning with the City’s Strategic Planning Framework
- Coordinate risk management in the department, through creation and updating of risk registers, risk identification and evaluation tools, integrated reporting, and progress monitoring
- Develop and execute approaches to enterprise performance measurement and management within the Department that align with corporate requirements and Branch specific needs
- Provide input into the development of corporate-wide methodologies, templates, and tools related to the Strategic Planning Framework
- Innovate alongside leadership to effect strategies that build employee awareness and acumen related to the Strategic Planning Framework and enable decision makers to draw connections between enterprise performance management, strategic planning, risk, budget, and the City’s vision
- Monitor and prepare regular reporting for a variety of functions, including progress towards identified Branch and Department goals and outcomes; facilitate the provision of information and data, determining the best method of reporting to meet the needs of decision-makers
- Utilize project management protocols and templates, to deliver projects/initiatives; review and analyze Branch and Department initiatives, plans, and policies, providing strategic advice and recommendations
- Approach work with a continuous improvement mindset, making recommendations and implementing as needed
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- University degree in Business Administration, Humanities, Commerce, or a related discipline
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of: strategic and operational business and budget planning, risk management, enterprise performance measurement and management, policy development, and understanding and interpreting financial data
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in facilitation, project management, and process development/coordination within a public sector environment
- Knowledge in and experience with developing and reporting on business plans including all components of the business planning cycle and process
- Experience developing, managing, and working with performance measures, making linkages to service objectives, business plans, and general budget
- Experience in risk management, including risk and opportunity identification and selection of appropriate approaches and the use of risk tools such as risk registers, reports, and other analytical tools
- Skills and experience in the use of analytics and data intelligence to support decision making processes
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions of an advanced nature and ability to express complex ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively, verbally and in written format
- Skills and expertise leading integrated interdisciplinary teams with demonstrated results in collaborative business strategy development
- Interpersonal skills with ability build effective working relationships with all levels of management, and demonstrated comfort working with and advising senior leaders
- Ability to identify and implement imaginative and effective solutions to complex corporate and department challenges
- Organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects/processes with competing deadlines
