**Mineral Assessment Geoscientist**
**$70,683.48 - $89,678.84 annually plus 3% Recruitment and Retention Adjustment**

The Mines, Competitiveness and Authorizations Division is responsible for developing and regulating the thriving, globally competitive, safe and environmentally responsible exploration and mining sector, significantly benefiting all British Columbians.

The Mineral Assessment Geoscientist is responsible for the provincial collection of assessment reports submitted by explorationists to maintain tenure in good standing, as required by the _Mineral Tenure Act._ This position applies a technical understanding of diverse geological, geophysical, geochemical, mineral, coal and placer exploration techniques to judge the suitability and evaluate the validity of reported work and costs. The position ensures the assessment reports comply with statutory requirements and decides if reports submitted are accepted, rejected or returned for revisions.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

- Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a fully qualified professional geoscientist with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology and at least 4 years’ experience in mineral exploration-related geology or Master’s Degree in Geology with 2 years’ experience in mineral exploration-related geology.
- Experience in geological mapping, mineral exploration or mining in British Columbia.
- Experience supervising contractors and managing projects.
- Experience using GIS (e.g., Manifold, ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS).
- Experience in publishing and presenting geoscientific results to technical and non-technical audiences.
