**Engagement Geologist**
**$70,683.48 - $89,678.84 annually, plus Grid 3A: 3% recruitment and retention adjustment**

The province’s mining and mineral exploration sector provides thousands of long-term, high paying jobs, revenue to support provincial and local government services and is an important component of regional economies throughout British Columbia. The Mines Competitiveness and Authorizations Division is responsible for developing, promoting and regulating the thriving, globally competitive, safe and environmentally responsible mining and exploration sectors.

The Engagement Geologist position is part of the British Columbia Geological Survey (BCGS). This government agency provides information for effective mineral exploration, sound land use management and responsible governance.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Geology, Geomorphology or Environmental Science from a university of recognized standing.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in mineral exploration, environmental geoscience, or government geosciences.
- Registered or immediately eligible* for registration, as a professional geologist with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.
- **Note**: Immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a professional Geologist in another Canadian jurisdiction and able to transfer that membership to the Engineers and Geoscientists BC within 6 months of employment. It is the responsibility of the applicant to have Engineers and Geoscientists BC review their qualifications to ensure they have the necessary requirements for registration.
- Experience presenting technical geoscience information to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with a broad range of computer software including but not limited to MS Office, GIS, graphics packages, geoscience data to produce geological maps and displays materials.
- Experience engaging and working with First Nations communities in the Canadian Cordillera.
- Experience analyzing, evaluating, organizing and presenting data.
- Experience working independently/autonomously and making decisions and judgments.
