**Organization** - The Memory Lane Family Place Association, located in Lower Sackville, is now hiring a full-time Home Visitor for its Parenting Journey Program. The Memory Lane Family Place is a non-profit organization, operating since 1980. Its mission is “_**To provide preventative programs and services to children and families in our community that are strength-based and promote healthy family development**_” and its vision is “_**healthy, happy children and families in a connected and supportive community**_”. We are currently seeking a highly-motivated, self-directed individual who is interested in becoming part of our Memory Lane team, working in an accepting, non-judgmental work environment.

As a 42-year-old organization, a wide range of services are provided, in addition to the Parenting Journey Home Visitor position. These include (but are not limited to)
- Licensed in-home Family Home Child Care agency
- Licensed preschool programs
- Playgroups for parents and children (BabyTime/FamilyTime/parenting sessions (Parent Ed/Coffee Chat)
- Parent/Child Cooking Program
- Fathering Program
- Prenatal sessions
- Leadership Training and more

Programs are delivered both on site and virtually.

**Position** - The Parenting Journey Program helps support families of children 0-19 years of age, who are facing challenges. The program is intended to promote the optimal development and well-being of children and youth by providing family support through purposeful, goal-based visitation, as well as referrals and linkages to other community resources.

Parenting Journey Home Visitors work collaboratively with families to build helping relationships, while collectively identifying strengths, resources, challenges and priorities using a holistic framework.

The Parenting Journey Home Visitor provides support to families through parent-child relationship building, parenting information and strategies: family/life management and community connections and referrals: as well as working with the family to create individual family plans. This is done through a goal-setting process led by the family. This process is central to the work. The Home Visitor works with a supervisor and a clinical consultant for optimal support and job performance.
- Facilitate/co-facilitate and evaluate parent programs and workshops.
- Advocate - Access the service needs of families and provide support and advocacy, when required. Attend/accompany participants to court/school and other relevant meetings.
- Individual Support - Provide home visits and individual parenting support/education.

**Qualifications and Experience** - Minimum of grade 12 or equivalency; Diploma/Certificate in Human Services; Early Childhood Education; Social Work; Family Studies, or an acceptable equivalent of education and experience. Working with families who have experienced multiple challenges is an asset. A minimum of two years working with children and families is preferred.

Additional Requirements
- Complete and clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks
- Successful Child Abuse Registry screening
- Up-to-date First-Aid Certificate (Association will cover costs for these requirements)
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and use of a suitably-insured vehicle.

Salary Range - $44,600-47,840 per year/full time (35 hours per week) plus, an attractive benefit package

Hours of Operation - 8:30 - 4:30
