**The Opportunity**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and refine engaging lesson plans focused on food preparation, safety, sanitation and commercial kitchen operations.
- Provide hands-on training in cooking and baking techniques, leading participants through the entire process.
- Adapt instructional methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and confidence.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them achieve their goals.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and classroom environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in food service and disability inclusion.
- Assist the Food Service Team with production on days when the Training Program is not in session.
- Must be a collaborative team player, with the flexibility to assist in other New Leaf Enterprises and Easter Seals Nova Scotia programs as needed.

**Qualifications**
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience in food service.
- Previous teaching or training experience, preferably with individuals with disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with a diverse student population.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for empowering others through education.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and community partners.

**Salary**

$40,000/ year

**Hours of Work**

This is a full-time, contract position for one year. Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm.
