**Description**

The Research and Knowledge Translation Coordinator will generally work during normal business hours but will occasionally need to work evenings or weekends. This position allows some flexibility to work from home, but travel to study sites across the province will be required at different phases of the study. The Research and Knowledge Translation Coordinator will report to the Senior Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry.

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Report Preparation, Communications and Knowledge Translation
- Information is formulated and prepared for different stakeholder audiences in ways that are effective, appropriate and time sensitive
- Presentations, reports, manuscripts, and information for external stakeholders (e.g. mailouts, newsletters, annual reports) are written/prepared in advance of deadlines for sufficient review of the team
- Revisions to presentations, reports, manuscripts, and external stakeholder communications are completed to meet external deadlines or deadlines set jointly by the Knowledge Translation Specialist and the team
- Innovative communication strategies are developed and tested
- Critical thinking required for communications tasks and knowledge translation

Tasks and Duties
- Coordinates with research team to plan and develop communication and knowledge translation strategies, and will take a proactive, creative approach to share AOF expertise
- Writes articles and reports for specific audiences based on research findings
- Supports media relations including coordination with the Cumming School of Medicine and others to draft and review press releases on research projects and publications
- Prepares and present content for presentations, research reports, and manuscripts
- Coordinates communication events or assists with preparing for meetings with stakeholders to discuss research findings
- Coordinates internal communication needs and projects

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- A post-secondary degree in a related field of study (e.g. health sciences, nursing, psychology, communications) with at least one course covering research methods in detail
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant, related experience
- Professional certification in knowledge translation would be an asset
- Knowledge of research methods, statistics and epidemiological principles
- A good understanding of knowledge translation principles is essential
- Previous experience in knowledge translation an asset
- Intermediate web development skills an asset
- Minimum two years of research and scientific writing experience required, with a strong communications background
- Experience in preparing presentations and written communications (e.g. reports, manuscripts) for diverse audiences
- Experience with literature reviews, critical reading and information synthesis
- Experience in the area of maternal and child health, and an understanding of statistical terminology is an asset
- Experience in effective communication with both large and small stakeholder groups, including community groups and researchers
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Advanced knowledge of presentation software, video creation and editing, and web design
- Advanced knowledge of WordPress and Hootsuite
- Advanced communication skills for written prose (reports, policy briefs, and participant mailouts) as well as content for presentation slides and speaking notes
- A good understanding of the research process and university research procedures
- Strong organizational skills to ensure projects are undertaken with due diligence
- Demonstrated ability to function as a productive team member as well as independently as required
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and procedures
- Must be fluent in written and oral English language
