**Department summary**

The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta exists to teach the discipline of family medicine for the future of practice and the needs of society, and to produce scholarly work that improves the practices of family medicine and primary health care. The residency program of the Department of Family Medicine is strongly grounded in Evidence Based Medicine and is supported by physicians well known for their involvement in medical research. The training of residents emphasizes the development of skills, behaviours and attitudes required for effective, community-based clinical practice, where the practice is based on collaborative doctor-patient relationships and where the physician is a resource to the practice. This primary two-year program leads to eligibility for certification by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

**Position summary**

**Duties**
- Assists program faculty and staff to review the family medicine residency program curriculum and consider new and innovative approaches to support all aspects of curriculum renewal.
- Provides support for the mapping of learning outcomes and competencies required of family medicine graduates.
- Assists with reviewing and updating a repository of instructional materials to ensure objectives demonstrate compliance with the accreditation standards.
- Assists with the preparation of documents related to the course syllabus and curriculum program changes.
- Contributes to the writing and design of a renewed family medicine residency program curriculum.
- Assists with communicating the proposed changes in a timely manner to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as required.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., health sciences, education, medical education).
- Significant interest and/or experience in curriculum development, family medicine, and/or management will be considered in lieu of a graduate degree.
- Knowledge and experience in graphic design, as well as strong writing skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Conscientious with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work independently with mínimal supervision
