Proudly constructing the Valley Line West LRT

The City of Edmonton selected Marigold Infrastructure Partners to design and build the 14-kilometre Valley Line West LRT project from downtown to Lewis Farms. Construction has begun and will take five to six years to complete.

Marigold is a design-build joint venture agreement between Colas and Parsons.

As we continue to build this legacy project, we are adding to our Engineering team.

Acting on behalf of the applicable Architect of Record (AOR), the **Architectural Field Review Monitor (FRM)** is responsible for carrying out field reviews at the construction site during the implementation or construction of the Professional Work Product (PWP). For clarity, the AOR retains professional responsibility including making all decisions related to the practice of architecture relevant to the PWP. The FRM, working under the direct supervision and control of the applicable AOR, will carry out field reviews to ensure that implementation or construction of the PWP in the field aligns with the original design’s intended purpose, specifications, and requirements.

**Duties**:
verify that the PWP is appropriate for the field condition

confirm the original design and assumptions are valid as they relate to field implementation

identify issues in the original design or specifications - or any other issues - due to site conditions that were not known while preparing the PWP

create alignment between field-level decisions and decisions in architectural practice

ensure that if the implementation deviates from the intended design, the deviations are managed appropriately.

**During field reviews**:
document observations, interpretations, and deviations from PWPs and promptly communicate them to the Technical Management Team, Construction Management Team, and Architect of Record as necessary.

take the initiative to be aware of the construction schedule and make every effort to ensure that critical work is reviewed while it is available, observable and in a state suitable for review.

**As support to the AOR in day-to-day ESDC activities as required by the AOR**:
Review Site Queries (SQs) and coordination of Field Change Directives (FCDs)

Provide technical support in the preparation of Design Development Change Record (DDCR) requests

Review and coordinate Construction Submittals

Review and coordinate the disposition of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)

Coordinate and ensure that design changes (FCDs) are incorporated in revisions to the Final Design

Review of construction turnover packages in support of the delivery of Construction Certificates by the AOR

Coordinate the preparation and issuance of final Record Drawings

**While conducting field reviews**:
Ensure that implementation or construction of the PWP in the field aligns with the original design’s intended purpose, specifications, and requirements

Maintain records related to the project.

Prepare field observation reports and other documentation.

Take project photographs on a regular basis, recording to the appropriate location.

Recognize potential conflicts, issues, and problems and report them to the supervisor with the proposed solution.

Perform other responsibilities associated with the position as may be required.

Facilitate the timely review of construction-phase submittals and queries.

Facilitate the timely review and disposition of non-conformance reports.

Facilitate the timely delivery of redlines and construction turnover records.

Facilitate the timely delivery of final record drawings.

Ensure compliance with ESDC workflows, processes and procedures.

Ensure compliance with plans, procedures and policies.

Ensure alignment between field-level decisions and design decisions.

Encourage adherence to established plans, procedures and policies.

Attend ESDC, design coordination, construction coordination and technical working group meetings.

Develop working relationships with Technical Discipline Leads and other project team members to support the coordination and resolution of field-level technical issues.

Act as a leader in Safety and Quality by adhering to established plans, procedures and policies.

Perform other related administrative or project-based duties as may be required.

**Requirements**:
Formal Education and training in Architecture.

Professional registration with AAA or ability to register from another jurisdiction considered an asset.

5+ years of related experience in the field. Experience related to transportation facilities preferred.

Knowledge of public works contracts, and previous experience with P3 projects is required.

**Skills, Competencies, Attributes**

Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications, and construction-related processes in the area of specialty.

Potential to lead an asset.

Ability to communicate in all manners (oral, written, technology) and to follow oral and verbal instructions.

Ability to prepare detailed written reports.
