The daily hours of the role can be adjusted to your schedule and the role can be a hybrid structure of remote & in-office work. AEM currently has 115 salaried employees who work in a non-unionized environment.

**Role Overview**

The **Payroll & Human Resources Advisor** provides an exceptional level of professional, confidential first-line support to all employees and to the HR Manager. Areas of responsibility include compensation and total rewards, benefits and payroll administration, recruitment and selection, training and development, and other areas as assigned.

**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Processes bi-weekly payroll using HRIS and completes all other administrative tasks associated with the company’s payroll function.
- Provides front-line response to employees’ payroll, benefit, and first level human resources inquiries. Escalates inquiries and issues when needed.
- Calculates & processes monthly, quarterly, and annual remittances, journal entries, and reports.
- Works in compliance with all relevant legislation and organizational policies.
- Processes, maintains, and updates employee records and related documents. Processes and tracks all employee changes such as new hires, promotions, terminations, probationary periods, pay increases, benefits/pension enrollments & changes, leaves, work permits, etc.
- Supports the HR Manager with researching, developing, and implementing total rewards strategies, human resources policies & procedures, and related documents.
- Leads the ongoing development and execution of employee recognition and engagement programs.
- Develops, coordinates, and administers in-house training for employees.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.

**What Will Help You Succeed**
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, or similar, required. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, payroll administration, or similar, is required. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum 3 years’ recent experience administering end-to-end payroll using a computerized payroll program in Canada is required (provincial experience is preferred but federal experience will be considered)
- 2+ years of human resources experience is preferred.
- Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Word and Excel required.
- Excellent communication skills and time management skills are required.
- Ability to operate related equipment required.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position required.
- Ability to build and foster strong relationships with employees and company leaders.
