**Position Summary**:
**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:
Leadership, Teaching, Maintenance, Communication and Facilitation:

- Maintenance and gardening in common areas of the Community Garden (paths, periphery, support with nearby pollinator garden, and water gardens as needed). Gardening in the general areas of the L’Arche London property as well: weeding and watering. Garden comprises approx. 50 % of weekly hours.
- Gardening side-by-side with participants of the L’Arche London Gathering Place Day Program. Teaching basic gardening skills to the participants, for example, planting, weeding, irrigation and harvesting.
- Supporting 13 neighborhood community gardeners, who will be gardening in their personal garden plot.
- Managing the supplies needed, for example, water sources and organization of tools, for smooth functioning of this project. Supporting the questions of gardeners and bridging to the management team of L’Arche London by bringing questions, ideas and concerns forward.
- Organizing and maintaining the 14th Food bank plot with volunteers, participants and the staff of the L’Arche London Day Program. Ensuring the harvest is delivered to the Foodbank by designated volunteers.
- Welcoming speakers to talk about Gardening Practices and Care for the Land. Planning with the support of the leadership team of L’Arche London, 2-3 educational sessions on these topics.
- Preparing interesting information and pictures regarding the Project for L’Arche London’s Social Media.

**Skills and Aptitudes**:

- An interest, experience and skills in gardening preferred.
- A demonstrated interest in Community Development: fostering healthy communities through collaborative work together.
- Experience and affinity for working in teams.
- Knowledge and appreciation of the Identity and Mission of L’Arche.
- Related Highschool or Post-Secondary Education preferred (for example: Horticulture, Urban Planning, Geography)
