In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary

Organizational Status

Reports to the Director, Administration with day-to-day, functional direction from the Department Head and Research Director. Interacts with the Principal Investigators (PI), Research project staff, Academic and Clinical Faculty, Residents and Learners as well as research partners on all levels.

Work Performed- Supports and guides the planning, implementation, and evaluation of research projects led by academic and clinical faculty as well as residents and learners- Supports department faculty and resident researchers and staff with the coordination of specific research projects-
- First point of contact for PI’s for questions relating to security roles and other ad-hoc workday tasks, including the tracking of worktags and budget workday ledgers- Develops a research grant inventory and identifies new funding opportunities for the DoFP- Engage with stakeholders on the evaluation of projects including but not limited to research, program specific evaluation needs, etc.- Liaises with the Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Office, Research and the UBC Office of Research Services- Identifies opportunities for collaboration with other Departments, Schools and Institutes- Guides department members with the ethics review process- Advises on proposals and contracts for new research projects- Assists with translating integrated knowledge and concepts into clear and coherent written formats, specifically for use on social media platforms and the department research web site- Provides feedback on progress reports for various stakeholders and conducts preliminary analysis- Provides administrative guidance for research grant proposals including editing, and proofing related documents. Works with PIs and research staff to ensure submissions are completed and accurate- Liaises with the Behavioural and Clinical Research Ethics Boards and the Health Authority Research Ethics Boards- Performs additional duties as required

Consequence of Error/Judgement

Makes professional decisions and recommendations on all aspects of work and is responsible for the quality of research activities. Inappropriate judgment could comprise the validity and reliability of research findings and integrity of the research process. Inadequate performance may result in failure to achieve project objectives and could have significant impact on chances of receiving future funding.

A high level of discretion and confidentiality is required. The incumbent will treat all information related to the project as confidential.

Supervision Received

This position works independently and as part of a team, reporting back to the team. The investigators will provide direction on priority projects.

Supervision Given

None, but may train work procedures to team members and various stakeholders within the Department.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
