Highlights of the job

We are hiring a Full Time Temporary Project Coordinator position working out of the Darlington Water Treatment Plant within the Durham Region of Ontario until December 31, 2023.

The Project Coordinator is accountable for coordinating project related support and construction activities for the water treatment plant that will provide demineralized water to operations at the OPG Darlington Generating Station. This includes working directly with engineering and construction partners to ensure that construction projects are delivered safely, on-time, on-budget and achieve the quality objectives of the project.

About the Durham Region of Ontario

The OPG Darlington Nuclear Generating Station is nearest to the town of Bowmanville, which is about 75 kilometers East of Toronto on the shores of Lake Ontario.

What you’d be responsible for
- Providing input to the Darlington Water Treatment Plant plans and directions, and ensures on-going appropriate relationships with other EPCOR project team members, engineering and construction partners, and external stakeholders
- Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics
- Providing field coordination of construction activities
- Monitoring, documenting and reporting on construction activities and health, safety and environment performance, budget, schedule and quality of the project
- Coordinating, commissioning and start-up activities with the EPCOR operations team
- Monitoring project risks, anticipating problems, and proposing mitigation plans and strategies
- Ensuring adherence to project specific requirements and stakeholder commitments
- Ensuring reports and information required from contractors are received in a timely manner
- Acting as EPCOR’s representative in the field, exercising good judgement and escalating issues appropriately
- Responsible for the execution of the existing project agreement as well as deliverables including performance reporting, client meetings, and achieving financial targets
- Ensuring the facilities perform to EPCOR’s standards and meet regulatory and contract obligations in our partnership with OPG
- Demonstrating a high performance, high disciplined, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working

What’s required to be successful
- Diploma in Engineering or related trade/discipline
- 5+ years of direct experience in construction, project management, operation or maintenance of treatment plant or related systems, or a combination thereof
- Project management training with Project Management Professional designation would be considered an asset
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License or equivalent
- Strong management skills (planning, prioritizing, organizing, problem solving, teamwork)
- Working knowledge of project management principles
- Comprehensive understanding of occupational health and safety requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
