**About Us**:
Get ready for an amazing summer experience, where creativity and imagination flourish The STEAM Project is the first and largest STEAM summer camp in York Region. We offer two fantastic camp programs for children and youth ages 4-14 across three locations in Richmond Hill and Markham, where campers from across the GTA can spend their summers building, making, creating, and staying active. At our STEAM and Outdoor Adventure summer camps, campers can develop and hone their skills through creative play, group design challenges, and problem-solving activities.

**Working Hours**:

- Mandatory pre-camp training dates: June 17, 24, 28, 29 (9:30am-4:30pm)
- Camp dates: July 3 - August 26 (8:15am - 4:45pm, Thursdays until 5pm)

**Job Overview**:
We are looking for a fun and professional Wellness Coordinator to join our Summer 2023 camp team. Wellness Coordinators are integral to our summer leadership team and help ensure the health and wellbeing of our campers and staff. They promote sun safety, hydration, the safe use of program materials and equipment, and tend to our campers and staff when they aren’t feeling well or need minor medical attention. When not tending to campers and staff, the Wellness Coordinator gets involved in other aspects of camp like special programs, cabin time, and choice periods.
- Is currently studying in a post-secondary nursing program or similar medical area or working in the medical field as a healthcare provider
- Has experience working with children
- Is flexible and adaptable
- Has a natural ability to care for others
- Recognizes and mitigates health and safety risks
- Possesses excellent time management skills
- Will maintain excellent rapport with staff, campers, and camp families
- Is understanding of the uniqueness of each camper and staff member and able to care for them in a way that makes them feel comfortable and safe

**Responsibilities**:

- To be the face of health at camp
- Train staff on camp wellness policies
- Maintain and update health and safety policies and procedures
- Organize and manage camper and staff health forms, including allergies, camper behaviour notes, medication needs, epi-pen lists, etc.
- Tend to any health or medical incidents that may occur during camp
- Document and report any health-related incidents
- Communicate with counsellors, camp families, instructors, and members of the Leadership Team on an ongoing basis regarding health and wellness related issues
- Maintain Wellness Station inventory and request supply replenishment as necessary
- Active engagement in camp activities when not performing health care duties

**Job Requirements**:

- Currently enrolled in or graduated from a post-secondary nursing program or working as a healthcare practitioner
- Previous experience in a supervisory role
- 2+ years experience working with children ages 4 - 14
- Full weekday availability in July and August and select training days in June

**Considered an Asset**:

- Previous experience as a student nurse
- Previous camp or recreation experience

**Additional Requirements**:

- Standard First Aid with CPR-HCP (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license
- Vulnerable Sector Screening Check (upon hire)

**Job Types**: Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 8 weeks

**Salary**: $5,000.00-$6,000.00 per year
