**About the Opportunity**:
The Manager for HIS Health Records is accountable for the overall planning, development, implementation and evaluation of health information management and stewardship of all resources allocated at the NSH level within the context of health records as a provincial program. The Manager leads the provincial Health Records Team, providing strategic and operational direction to HIS employees while working in collaboration with stakeholders across all levels of the health system. The Manager ensures the legislation and policies are implemented in a consistent and equitable manner and that resources are effectively utilized.

Reporting to the IM/IT Director of Clinical Documentation, Audit & Reporting the HIS Manager for Health Records will:

- Strengthen the NS Health mission and vision by being a strategic leader in the implementation and evaluation of all required health information and technology for decision making.
- Manage staff located across the province. This requires travel to remote locations in order to support and strengthen the team.
- Manage staff requiring quality and quantity monitoring for performance management.
- Implement Health Information Services policies and practices to assist with standardizing and implementation of new NS Health HIS policies and practices in alignment with industry best practices.
- Remain current through research and evaluation of information management, technology and practice changes to ensure there is an understanding of the needs of all of our partners, clients, staff and physicians and have processes, structure and systems in place to meet the needs of all of our constituents.
- Be accountable for the continuous assessment, improvement, and coordination of Health Records operations across the province.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Current registration with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CHIMA) and the Nova Scotia Health Information Management Association is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in health information management, or Diploma in Health Information with 5-7 years of health information management experience. Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and work experience.
- Minimum 5 to 7 years' leadership experience with health information management in an organization of significant size and/or complexity. Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and seven years progressive leadership experience
- Certified Health Executive and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) designation an asset
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or organizational change management certification an asset.
- Experience implementing HIS strategies, policies and processes for a large, complex organization
- Knowledge of health care legislation including privacy legislation - Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (FOIPOP, PIPEDA), Hospitals Act, Mental Health Act, Medical Staff By-Laws, Medical staff Rules and Regulations
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
- Experience in leading teams of staff with indirect accountabilities to other operational units.
- Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
