**Strategic Analyst, Institutional Planning and Assessment**:
**Work Location**:Primarily on campus, with a possibility of hybrid work under the terms of USask's Alternative Workspace Guidelines.

**Primary Purpose**: The Strategic Analyst will provide reporting and analysis of planning and assessment activities in support of the university’s strategic priorities. Integral to this will be the connection of planning and assessment to institutional resource allocation processes. The incumbent will frequently be involved in conducting or participating in special projects on behalf of the Provost and Vice-President Academic, Deputy Provost, or other stakeholders supported by the office of Institutional Planning and Assessment (IPA). The position is also responsible for ensuring that assessment activities are closely aligned to, and support strategic planning initiatives at the institutional and unit level.

**Nature of Work**: The Strategic Analyst reports to the Senior Director of Assessment and Analytics within the office of IPA. The position will play an integral role in the analysis and dissemination of quantitative and qualitative information in support of institutional planning and decision-making. The incumbent will conduct a wide variety of projects requiring interpretation and visualization of data associated with the assessment and review of university plans and priorities. Responsibilities include data collection, analysis, and reporting related to the integration of strategic planning, institutional assessment, and resource allocation processes. The Strategic Analyst will also support various review processes, including the cyclical review of all academic programs at USask. The position works as part of a team to support senior leaders at the university in matters relating to financial decision-making and assessing performance against plans and goals.

The Strategic Analyst will be involved in many projects and initiatives that will be confidential in nature and/or have broad impact across the university. The work is executed in a timely and efficient manner, working under pressure in a fast paced and changing environment, balancing priorities, and competing deadlines. The position routinely works with highly confidential and sensitive information such as university-wide budgetary drivers that includes salaries and college/unit budgets as well as faculty and staff complement plans and information. Because of this, the position requires a high level of discretion, integrity, and independent judgement.

**Accountabilities**:

- Designs and develops written reports, dashboards, scorecards, and other web-based visualizations to meet the information needs of senior administrators, campus users, and entities external to the University of Saskatchewan.
- Performs business analysis to understand information needs and requirements in order to provide accurate and appropriate interpretation of data and results to inform decisions of senior university leaders.
- Participates in the evaluation and reporting of progress towards realization of the goals and commitments described in the university’s institutional plans and alignment to Government of Saskatchewan priorities.
- Prepares information for university governing bodies, committees, and senior leaders to inform decision-making and to support the implementation and monitoring of strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Conducts comparative and case study research, competitor analysis, institutional analysis, and outcomes-based assessments.
- Supports university review and assessment initiatives by assisting with the planning of site visits, development of site visit schedules, preparation of required information, and reporting on review activities.
- Develops strategic and confidential documents (e.g. white papers, reports, proposals, briefing notes, presentations, etc.) that will often will contain sensitive and at times political information.
- Conducts special projects or reviews, many of which are very confidential in nature, at the request of the Provost and Vice-President Academic, Deputy Provost, and/or Senior Director, Assessment and Analytics.
- Completes concurrent projects in a timely manner, within agreed-upon deadlines, and in a format appropriate to the specific stakeholders.
- Promotes a healthy, respectful, collegial, and productive work environment within the office and in interactions with campus and external stakeholders.
- Performs other related duties or projects as required.

**Education**: An undergraduate degree is required. A graduate degree, related training in data analytics, graphic design, web design, and/or business analysis would be considered an asset.
