**Recreation Counsellor
- Casual**
**($25.05 Hourly + 10.6% in lieu of benefits)**
Promote inclusion by supporting school aged children and youth with developmental
disabilities to achieve goals and explore possibilities through participation in community
- based activities. With a focus on adventure, excitement, friendship, and fun, Youth
Connections is living proof that some of life's greatest lessons are taught in a recreational
setting.

**YOUR IMPACT**:

- Provide direct support to children and youth with developmental disabilities,

including those with mental health challenges, complex and/or challenging behaviour
or support needs.
- Initiate learning opportunities for social, creative and recreational skill development

and enthusiastically participate alongside the children and youth in activities.
- Support individuals to achieve goals based on their own choice, beliefs and desires.
- Establish respectful relationships which promote dignity, self-determination and well
- being.- Provide meaningful feedback and information to parents/families regarding their

child’s learning and development, interests and emerging skills.

**YOUR CAPABILITIES**:

- Relevant post-secondary education in related field.- Experience supporting children with developmental disabilities or working in a similar
- environment.- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Clear, current Criminal Records Check
- Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 4 an asset).
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of an organization.
- Reliable problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.
