**Job Posting: Casual Facility Technician - Defend Environmental Ltd.**

**Position Overview**:
Defend Environmental Ltd. is seeking a Casual Facility Technician to join our team. We are a locally owned environmental services company.

**Position Overview**:
As a Facility Technician, you will be responsible for handling hazardous materials safely and efficiently under the direction of a supervisor. This role involves operating a skid steer and forklift, handling and transferring hazardous materials, cleaning up impacted sites, removing hazardous materials, and complying with safety regulations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Safely handle hazardous materials under the direction of a supervisor
- Implement all aspects of Health and Safety during field responses and assist supervisor with coordination.
- Execute job duties under the direction of a supervisor, including administration, support, and site property management in the field.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Comply with Federal, Provincial Acts, Codes, and Regulations.
- Perform basic housekeeping of building and work areas.
- Operate a forklift, skid steer, and power tools
- Represent Defend Environmental Ltd. in a competent and professional manner.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**:
◦ Grade 12 education required.
- **Certifications**:
◦ Valid class 5 driver’s license.

◦ Skid steer operating certification

◦ Forklift operating certification

◦ WHMIS

◦ Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)

◦ H2S Alive (preferred)

◦ First Aid (preferred)
- **Experience**:
◦ No experience needed, must be willing and engaged in learning process

◦ Experience in chemical handling, transferring, and waste management is an asset.

◦ Industrial services assessment, working at heights, confined space, rescue experience is an asset.

◦ Heavy construction and industrial experience are an asset.

◦ Volunteer firefighting experience is an asset.
- **Knowledge**:
◦ Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

◦ An understanding of Federal and Provincial regulations related to operations or the willingness to learn

Defend Environmental Ltd. is a family-owned company specializing in the safe management of contaminated and hazardous materials. We are a licensed hazardous waste processing and disposal facility.

**Work Environment**:
This position involves both warehouse and outdoor activities in diverse environments and varied locations. The ability to work in inclement weather conditions is necessary.
