Assistant Cook/baker

Approximately 35 - 40hrs/week, must be available to work 6am to 4pm on weekdays, **most weekends required**
Hourly Rate: $15.50 + tips
**Basic Job Requirements**:
- Morning kitchen set-up, baking molasses brown bread and focaccia bread, squares, muffins, cinnamon rolls etc. finishing products and ensuring consistency and quality.
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, washing dishes, and maintaining equipment
- Daily breakfast and lunch preparation
- Peeling, chopping, bagging, freezing and preserving fruits and vegetables to reduce waste from market
- Baking, cooking food from scratch, creating soups and salads with ingredients that are available and in season
- Available to perform many different tasks during each shift
- Prepare food to standard recipes or customized for customers, including recipe changes such as quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients
- Cleaning including washing dishes, sweeping, mopping and cleaning tables
- Delivering food to tables
- Sorting garbage, recycling and compost
- Knowledge of and experience with local ingredients considered an asset
**Qualifications**:
- Ability to learn quickly
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Previous cooking and/or baking experience and up to date Food Safety Certificate
