**Salary Scale**:$49,456 to $87,026

**NATURE OF THE WORK**

The Social Service Officer supports the School Board in dealing with prevention, promotion, support and intervention for students experiencing emotional, family, social or school problems. In addition, you will be required to:

- Plan and provide in-classroom coaching and learning opportunities for teachers, particularly in the area of Social

Studies. To act as the School Board liaison with external partners in the Health and Social Services sector to ensure that services are available and deployed to students within our schools.
- To represent the school board on various committees and tables related to mental health, well-being and healthy lifestyles, on a provincial level.
- To liaise with community organizations under the direction of the Coordinator of Community Affairs and ensure that relevant programming is being explored at the school/centre level.
- To oversee the Community Learning Centre (C.L.C.) initiative. This involves liaising with the Community

Development Agents at each of these centres as well with provincial representatives.
- To provide pertinent professional development opportunities for Special Education Technicians in the areas associated with their dossier.
- To assist schools/centres with prevention and intervention procedures related to areas in which students may experience problems.

**REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- A degree in an appropriate specialty, notably a background in social work, crisis intervention, readaptation, special care counselling or youth intervention.
