**Position Status**: Full-time (40 hours/week), 1 Year Employment Contract with Possibility of Extension

**The Opportunity**

The Métis Nation of Alberta is recruiting for a full-time Cumulative Effects Coordinator on a one-year employment contract, based out of the Provincial Head in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Consultation Program Manager, the Cumulative Effects Coordinator will lead the Terrestrial Cumulative Effects Initiative (TCEI) project aimed to collect and catalogue data for the understanding and assessment of cumulative effects. The goal of this project is to translate the feedback heard from MNA citizens in TCEI Phase I into usable systems and information products. This project will support the general understanding of cumulative effects from a Métis perspective, making it easier for staff and citizens to assess the potential cumulative impacts of planned human activity. The Terrestrial Cumulative Effects Coordinator will possess strong data analysis and research skills and be able to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Inform the development of systems, processes, and materials to facilitate long term, meaningful use of project data by the MNA and its citizens.
- Create and develop materials for a variety of audiences to disseminate knowledge and gather information from citizens.
- Strengthen community capacity to advance cumulative effects work and improve information and knowledge sharing to support decision-making and future analysis around major projects.
- Support the understanding of cumulative effects, specifically focused on the cumulative effects of human activities on mainland terrestrial/freshwater environments and other citizen interests or concerns.
- Coordinate and deliver TCEI programs and activities, including, but not limited to, citizen-to-staff research feedback mechanism creation, evaluation of material efficacy, and the exploration of the feasibility of a software system that tracks and manages terrestrial cumulative effects associated with future projects/development.
- Coordinate and conduct community engagement and citizen education sessions.
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders relevant to project advancement.
- Participate in data inventory creation and process development in terms of TCEI.
- Support general departmental activities and tasks.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

**Skills & Competencies**
- Exceptional data management skills, including collection, storage, and management of qualitative and quantitative data.
- Ability to operate in the field to conduct studies and projects, as required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
- Strong cultural sensitivity and ability to work well with community members and Elders.
- Exercise discretion in handling confidential and politically sensitive information. Strong political sensitivity is required.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team setting.
- Ability to produce professional documents, reports, and presentations.
- Ability to remain organized, multi-task, and manage time effectively under tight and competing deadlines.
- Strong computer skills with aptitude for using new software.
- Ability to identify and respond to sensitive and complex community, organizational, and political issues, concerns, and needs.
- An in-depth knowledge of federal and provincial Indigenous consultation requirements is an asset.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the MNA and Métis culture, people, and values is an asset.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary Degree in Policy, Environmental Sciences, or related field.
- Two (2) years’ experience in related role. A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- Experience or training in managing databases and working with large datasets.

**Other Requirements**
- Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends as required.
- Some travel within Alberta is a requirement. Additional less frequent out-of-province travel may also occur, with notice.
- Must have a driver’s license and an operational vehicle.
