Le Directeur Technique des Effets de Foule est responsable de la production de plans de foule complexes au moyen de techniques de vignette et de simulation, aux fins d’utilisation dans les films de DNEG. Il travaille sous la direction et la supervision du superviseur des créatures numériques et des superviseurs des effets numériques de manière à développer une allure, un mouvement et un style précis pour réaliser les objectifs et la vision en matière de création du superviseur des effets visuels et du réalisateur. Le Directeur Technique des Effets de Foule réalise des simulations en regroupant divers effets 3D produits par nos services responsables du développement, des Maquettes, des Créatures Numériques (squelette) et de l’Animation, au moyen de logiciels standard - principalement Houdini et Maya - et d’outils du pipeline personnalisés pour créer des simulations de foules photoréalistes.

**Qualifications**
- Bonne connaissance des logiciels de simulation de foules comme Houdini, Massive ou Golaem, ou de programmes logiciels connexes
- Expérience reconnue en production de simulations de foules avec le souci du détail, un bon sens du rythme et une compréhension approfondie des techniques et des technologies liées à la simulation physique en infographie
- Bonne connaissance des difficultés liées au pipeline et de la résolution de problèmes
- Expérience en équilibrage de la qualité et des contraintes de temps
- Excellentes compétences artistiques et techniques

**Atouts**
- Compétences en programmation ou en rédaction de scripts (p. ex. MEL, Python, Hscript, VEX)
- Expérience des effets visuels des effets de foule en prises de vues réelles
- Connaissance des logiciels Houdini, Massive et Maya et/ou de logiciels d’effets 3D équivalents
- Expérience en compositing
- Bonne expérience générale en direction technique
- Excellente compréhension des systèmes d’exploitation Linux/Unix

- The Crowd Technical Director is responsible for producing complex crowd shots using vignette and simulation techniques, for use in Double Negative’s films. The Crowd TD works under the direction and supervision of the Creature Supervisor and DFX Supervisors to develop a specific look, movement and style that achieves the Creative Goals and vision of the VFX Supervisor and Director. A Crowd TD will successfully deliver simulations by gathering a variety of 3D Assets produced by our Build, Layout, Creature (Rigging) and Animation departments, using off the shelf software - primarily Houdini and Maya - and custom pipeline tools to create photorealistic crowd simulations.

**Must have**
- Good understanding of crowd simulation software such as Houdini, Massive, Golaem or related software programs
- Proven experience in producing crowd simulations with an eye for details, good sense of timing, and thorough understanding of techniques and technologies relating to physical simulation in computer graphics
- Familiarity with pipeline issues and problem-solving
- Experienced in balancing quality with time constraints
- Excellent artistic and technical skills

**Nice to have**
- Programming or scripting skills (e.g. MEL, Python, Hscript, VEX)
- Experience in live-action VFX Crowd work
- Houdini, Massive and Maya and/or equivalent 3D software knowledge
- Compositing experience
- A good general TD background
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix based operating systems
