The Technical Artist is essential to ensure that technology, tools and processes are in place to realize the artistic vision of a project. He/She works with the creative team to explain the capabilities and limitations of the technology, as well as with the technical team to promote the needs of artists and find multiple solutions to technological issues.

You would be working with a wonderful team on our award winning IP Dead By Daylight

In this role you will:
  • Acts as a resource person for the team members to determine the technical impact of the artistic vision;
  • Simplifies production by finding ways to automate tasks and improve processes;
  • Develops best practices, solutions and tools in order to solve problems;
  • Promotes the reuse of assets, know-how and tools across multiple projects;
  • Ensures that the team has the technical expertise to do the work required in the project;
  • Seeks to constantly push the limits of technology;
  • Establishes strong communication between the creative and technical teams;
  • Finds innovative solutions and demonstratesexpertise in the field of technical optimization to produce the best visual results possible within the limits of technology equipment;
  • Strong comprehension of the rendering pipeline in order to gauge the impact on performance.
What we're looking for:
  • 6 years of experience related to 3D modeling, textures, frames, animation, lighting, special effects and scripts(shaders, foliage,profiling);
  • Technical Knowledge in real time 3D graphics and digital content creation pipeline;
  • Realtime and pre-calculated lighting knowledge;
  • Experience with commercial 3D tools (Maya, 3ds Max, Substance, Blender);
  • Mandatory experience with Unreal (other game engines will be considered an asset);
  • Understanding rendering hardware on multiple platforms,specifically, PC and current generation consoles;
  • Good knowledge of PBR workflow;
  • SpeedTree /Pivot Painter proficiency as well as other appropriate software and hand modelling techniques for foliage assets;
  • Understanding of profiling and optimisation on multiple platforms
  • Knowledge in Niagara or Houdini is a nice-to-have.

  • Avoir une bonne compréhension des étapes et des méthodes de rendu afin d'évaluer l'impact sur la performance.
Ce que nous recherchons :
  • 6 ans d'expérience en modélisation 3D, textures, cadrage, animation, éclairage, effets spéciaux et scripts (shaders, feuillage, profiling);
  • Connaissances techniques en graphisme 3D en temps réel ainsi qu'en techniques de création de contenu numérique;
  • Connaissance de l'éclairage pré-calculé ou temps réel;
  • Expérience avec des outils 3D commerciaux (Maya, 3ds Max, Substance);
  • Expérience obligatoire avec Unreal (les autres moteurs de jeu seront considérés comme un atout);
  • Comprendre le matériel de rendu sur plusieurs plateformes, en particulier les appareils mobiles, les PC et les consoles de génération actuelles;
  • Bonne connaissance des flux de PBR;
  • Connaissance de SpeedTree /Pivot Painter et de tout autre logiciel ou technique de modélisation pour le feuillage pertinent;
  • Compréhension du profiling et de l'optimisation multi-plateforme;
  • Connaissance de Niagara ou Houdini considérés comme un atout;
  • Maîtrise de l'anglais et du français sachant que des contacts réguliers se feront en anglais avec des partenaires internes et externes ne résident pas exclusivement au Québec.

L'artiste technique est essentiel pour s'assurer que la technologie, les outils et les processus sont en place afin de réaliser la vision artistique d'un projet. L'artiste travaille avec l'équipe créative pour leur expliquer les capacités et les limites de la technologie, ainsi qu'avec l'équipe technique pour mettre en avant les besoins des artistes et trouver de multiples solutions aux problèmes technologiques.
