**HOME LOCATION: Brantford/Townsend/In the Community (travel within the agency’s jurisdiction is required)**

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
To apply, you must be:

- Between 15 and 30 years of age.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number.

Preference will be given to students enrolled in educational programs related to social work, social service worker or related fields.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Responsible to and under the Supervision of the Sr Manager, Truth and Reconciliation lead, the student may be required to:

- Assist workers to find the community services, such as legal help, medical attention, financial assistance, housing, employment, transportation, and more, especially concerning Indigenous and Equity Deserving groups' needs.
- Evaluate the opportunities and challenges Indigenous and Equity Deserving Groups face within the jurisdiction of the agency.
- Complete a scan of the social services agencies within the community and administratively organize the information for future reference.
- Gather information on services provided and specialization of services of organizations.
- Gather information regarding the referral process for community resources.
- Research informal community resources for Indigenous and Equity Deserving groups.
- Develop a database of community resources, with an emphasis on services for Indigenous and Equity Deserving groups.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Required KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**:

- Speak, write and read English.
- Foundational knowledge about the needs and issues of different social groups, such as newcomers, Indigenous people, LGBTQQIP2SA+, Equity Deserving Groups.
- Competence in navigating computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office (Excel, Word),
- Competence with the use of the internet to gather information.
- Familiarity with community resources in the agency’s jurisdiction
- Maintain cultural humility and communicate well with people from different backgrounds.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Foundational Problem-solving, planning, priority-setting, time management and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and to deal with stressful situations.
- Ability to represent the Agency in the community setting professionally and respectfully.
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of Agency and client information at all times.

**HOURLY RATE**:$18.80/hr

**This position is a bargaining unit role within the scope of our Collective**

**Agreement with CUPE local 7070**
