**Role Responsibilities**:
As the Instructional Design and Outreach Specialist, you will work as part of a team that designs government-wide training and facilitates outreach activities on a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, managing, sharing, collecting, using and disclosing data and content, and protecting privacy.

The Innovation, Privacy and Policy Division is accountable for the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy; the protection of personal information and guidance around the ethical use of data; and governance of Alberta Innovates and Alberta Enterprise Corporation. The Division also advances the strategies and policies related to advancing the innovation ecosystem, delivery of data, content management, technology, and privacy related programs and services.

Your responsibilities include:

- Conducting research for trends and best practices in designing training materials and presenting content to maximize the effectiveness of the training.
- Engaging with content SMEs in the Ministry to produce high quality and engaging training materials in a variety of mediums (e.g., online, in-person, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Planning, producing, and/or facilitating events (e.g., IM Aware quarterly sessions), conferences (e.g., Federal/Provincial/Territorial conferences), town halls (e.g., Division, Branch, etc.) as scheduled or when requested.
- Managing the shared mailboxes (e.g., information management (IM), FOIP/PIPA help desk) to ensure inquiries are responded to within the service level agreements, forwarded to SMEs when required, and provide assistance or direction to the Instructional Design and Outreach Analyst when required.
- Engaging with Ministry business units to develop communication materials for a variety of audiences (e.g., Branch, Division, Ministry, Corporate, Executive, external parties, etc.) in coordination with content SMEs.
- Working with the Ministry Communications team to ensure communication materials meets Ministry and Government of Alberta standards (e.g., visual identity, accessibility, etc.)

**Qualifications**:
A university degree in a related field, supplemented by at least four (4) years of related experience in designing training and preparing communications is required. See below for equivalencies.

The following will be considered assets:

- Knowledge of software that produces online courses (e.g., Articulate Storyline 360) or communication materials (e.g., Adobe InDesign).

Equivalencies are:

- Related two-year diploma and a minimum of six (6) years related experience; related one-year certificate and a minimum of seven (7) years related experience; a minimum of eight (8) years related experience.

**Notes**:
This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday.
