**Water/Wastewater Operator III**
**Public Works - Water & Wastewater**

**Regular Full-Time**

**CUPE Local 966**

Under general supervision operates sewer flusher, flusher/vacuum and vacuum excavation equipment and performs manual and equipment operating duties in the performance of various Public Works construction, maintenance or operational functions.

Responsibilities_**_:_**
- Performs water quality and system tests and takes corrective actions.
- Performs hand excavation, backfilling, restoration brickwork and pipe laying.
- Maintains, operates and inspects water distribution and wastewater collection system assets.
- Assists in watermain tapping, sewer main rodding hydrant repair and CCTV inspection service.
- Operates sewer flusher, flusher/vacuum and vacuum excavation equipment in the performance of water/wastewater installation and maintenance activities.
- Ensures all work is performed in compliance with relevant standards, legislation and regulations.
- Investigates complaints, faults or problems and determines causes and remedies.
- Trains and instructs less experienced personnel in specific operations and maintenance duties.
- May participate in inspections and audits.
- Executes duties in a tactful and courteous manner, maintains a neat appearance and performs duties in a way that conveys a "positive image" of the Region of Peel.

**_ Qualifications_**_:_**
- Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Minimum three (3) years of job related experience.
- Minimum acceptable MECP certification is Wastewater Collection OIT and a Water Distribution Class 1 or Wastewater Collection Level 1 and a Water Distribution OIT preference for progressive advancement to the certification of the subsystem class level.
- Meter Installers Certificate preferred.
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of manual and power equipment.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Capable of accurately completing work forms and reports.
- Must have a working knowledge of computers.
- Must successfully complete regulatory training and mandatory retraining courses.
- Physically able to perform requirements of the job.
- Possess a Class “DZ” license in good standing with preference for “AZ”.

**Work Mode & Job Location**:2 Copper Road, Brampton.

**Hours of Work**: 40 hours per week
