We are seeking a Hospitality Supervisor - Beverage for the Halifax Scotiabank Centre.
**About Location**
The Halifax Scotiabank Centre is the largest multipurpose facility in Atlantic Canada, serving as a premier venue for sports and entertainment events. Located at 1800 Argyle Street, Halifax, NS, it is a central hub for major events in Nova Scotia.
The Halifax Scotiabank Centre is proudly home to the Halifax Mooseheads (a major junior ice hockey team) and the Halifax Thunderbirds (a professional lacrosse team). The venue also hosts a wide range of events, including sports games, concerts, comedy shows, and special events. It is also known for the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo
**Principal Function**:
The Premium Seating and Catering Hospitality Supervisor - Beverage Specialist will play a key support role within the Premium Seating and Catering Department, assisting to ensure product availability, quality, cost effectiveness, compliance, control and service for all beverages served throughout the unit.
The Hospitality Supervisor assists with daily operations of the Premium Seating department by supervising employee activities, as assigned, within bars, lounges, stands and other outlets where beverages are served. They will help to ensure that standards and policies for responsible alcoholic beverage service are enforced.
The Hospitality Supervisor may assist with ordering, inventory controls and cash management within each location. They will support customer service satisfaction by monitoring departmental policies and procedures and assisting with training of beverage service personnel.
**Essential Responsibilities**:
- Maximize Sodexo Live’s revenue and operational excellence through implementation and oversight of systems and policies related to the Beverage department.
- Contributes to the efficient operation of business; Ensures all aspects of beverage operations and events are completed in an efficient and effective manner.
- Contribute to goal of making Sodexo Live #1 in Event Hospitality and the #1 Employer of Choice through personal commitment and leading by example.
**Qualifications/Skills**:
- Must be 19 years or older to serve alcohol.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have Serve Right - It’s just good business
- One year related experience required: Catering and/or Banquet bar operations, Restaurant Management or Institutional Food Service.
- Prior supervisory experience in food service and bar service.
- Prior lead and supervise a beverage and catering team, including bartenders, servers, and catering staff.
- Ability to train, mentor, and motivate staff to deliver excellent customer service.
- Must possess strong general knowledge of food and beverage operations procedures, controls, and administration as well as awareness and ability to perform all catering-related positions.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Keen ability to promote and participate in a team environment.
- Ability to work well in a high stress, fast paced environment
- Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management; Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts.
- Self-starter who can work independently and on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively.
**Other Requirements**:
- Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
