**About this role**

The Volunteer Coordinator is a key role in making sure we have the people we need for our day-to-day operations at Furniture Bank and Refugee Services programs. In collaboration with the Operations Manager, the Volunteer Coordinator will plan for current and projected human resource needs, and develop and implement effective recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to meet those needs.

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and scheduling volunteers.

**You would be asked to**:

- Assess required skills and training for volunteer positions
- Maintain regular communication with leadership team and Program Managers to be aware of volunteer needs across the organization
- Develop/update volunteer onboarding and training materials
- Carry out volunteer recruitment, interviews, onboarding, and scheduling
- Create and update job descriptions for each volunteer role
- Post volunteer positions on MHO website and post/advertise on volunteer recruitment platforms
- Respond to and help coordinate group volunteer requests
- Develop, maintain/update and implement orientation/onboarding/training plan for each volunteer
- Maintain and update active volunteer contact list
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers (e.g., confirm availability, remind them of upcoming shifts or meetings, etc.)
- Advise staff of absent volunteers, and find replacement volunteers as needed
- Generate monthly and yearly reports on the number of volunteers and their hours

**Works with Operations Manager to**:
Reassess MHO staff/volunteer needs and capacity relative to the current and
- Projected needs in MHO’s two core programs (Refugee Services/Furniture Bank)
- Compare needs to the present situation
- Assess required skills and training for staff/volunteer positions
- Update staff/volunteer job descriptions
- Update/develop staff/volunteer onboarding and training materials
- Develop staff/volunteer performance evaluation tools.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive staff/volunteer recruitment strategy to ensure adequate resourcing in the short-term (through the pandemic) and long-term (to address the upward service demand trend).
- Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Manager

**Other requirements**:

- Experience working with marginalized populations
- Communication skills:

- Effective communication skills
- Good command on English language, written & Verbal
- Fluency in other languages is highly preferred (e.g., French, Arabic, Spanish)
- Computer literacy:

- Familiar with basic computer knowledge, Internet and
- Efficient in Microsoft Office and Google Docs
- Other skills:

- Fast learner
- Work under minimum supervision
- Time management
- Working under fast paced environment

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $43,000.00 per year

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

Work Location: One location
