**Nature and Scope**

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Student Life, the Food Cupboard coordinator is responsible for, the Food Cupboard operations on three campuses and creatively and delicately promotes the Food Cupboard. Establishing controls for receipt and disbursement of food and supplies.
They will determine and maintain appropriate inventories as well as recruit and manage a workforce of student volunteers. The Food Cupboard coordinator will plan, implement and monitor the effective Food Cupboard service on three campuses (Ottawa, Perth and
Pembroke). This position requires that the incumbent establish productive relationships and constant communication with Students’ Association departments, student groups and the outside community organizations.

**Job Duties**
- Greets, informs, promotes and delivers services to students and members of the College community in a courteously, sensitively and respectful manner.
- Acts as a liaison between internal and external organizations in promoting the Food Cupboard.
- Responsible to recruit, train and coordinate volunteers as needed and work with the co-curricular coordinator to ensure that volunteers get recognition for their service.
- Compiles, organizes, updates and maintains accurate statistics of the number of students accessing the service and secures student information in the office area.
- Works with the Communications and Marketing department to create promotion campaigns for the Food Cupboard, and related events/activities.
- Work to raise awareness of hunger and food security issues in the campus community by tabling and participating in on-campus events and media outlets such as radio, newspaper, and magazines interviews
- Provide referrals to external local resources such as community food banks and internal such as employment services, counselling, etc.
- Orders, and maintains supplies for the office and organizes food drives on campuses throughout the year.
- Completes weekly shopping to ensure the Food Cupboard is well stocked and supplied
- Ensures that inventory is rotated to minimize loss due to best before dates.
- The coordinator will be responsible for implementing a menstrual product program for all three Algonquin College campuses. This includes all planning and coordination of an educational week.
- Responsible for oversight of partnership program between the Algonquin Students’ Association and Ottawa Food Bank
- Daily cleaning and upkeep of the office area.
- Investigates programs provided by other Food Centers and evaluates the possibility of implantation through the Food Cupboard.
- Be accountable for all expenditures and requests for the purchase of items pertaining to the Food Cupboard to ensure that the office operates within the specified operating budget and policies.
- Develops and continually update to ensure accuracy, a Food Cupboard procedure manual for volunteers to refer to when the attendant is not present.
- Prepares a comprehensive year-end report of the activities, issues and expenditures of the Food Cupboard and provides recommendations for improvement.
- Upholds the values of Caring, Learning, Integrity and Respect and the image and reputation of both the Students’ Association and Algonquin College.

- Experience working in a post-secondary student environment is considered an asset.
- Valid driver’s license

**Compensation**:

- This position is part of CUPE Local 5154 - pay level 4 ($29.62- $32.82)
- This position is a full-time position, 35 hours a week.
