**About the Role**

**Superior Farms in Lantzville is looking for an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Camp Director for our very popular Spring Break Camp and Summer Camps. **As our Camp Director, you will lead the organization and implementation of our very popular Children’s Farm Camps, delivering quality, nature-based programs for children ages 5-12. You will also act as ‘Captain’ for our other Camp Leaders, and work to foster a positive environment and supportive relationships between leaders, parents, and children. **Strong leadership skills, administrative experience, post-secondary education and/or certifications, and at least 5 years in youth programming, childcare, or child education is a must.**

Our Spring & Summer outdoor farm camps focus on nature connection, animal adventures, and education through play-and place-based learning, following child-led learning principles. As Camp Director, you will provide the day-to-day operation and leadership involved in delivering a fun, exciting, playful, and adventurous camp experience. The position will require some physical work and working outside with exposure to all types of weather conditions. The Camp Director will be expected to deliver our well-established program that is place-based, hands-on, ecological, arts-infused, and active. An administrative component will also be necessary that involves the tracking of camp registrations, waiver and medical forms, special requirements, and all confidential information that helps to ensure a fun and safe experience for participants.

**Key Roles & Responsibilities**
- Deliver and create fun and engaging nature-and farm-based camp programs for children ages 5-12, building a safe and inclusive space for participants.
- Create a safe and welcoming program environment, and ensure health and safety of participants.
- Instruct Camp Leaders and set expectations of the 2024 camp program, and monitor the progress and activities of each group..
- Maintain regular communication with the Camp Leaders to ensure all participants have a positive experience.
- Provide a warm and welcoming experience for parents during pick-up & drop-off times, encouraging positive interactions between parents and participants.
- Communicate with parents of campers regarding any special needs or requirements, and work with Camp Leaders to effectively meet these requirements.
- Act as the primary contact who Leaders report to with any persisting behavioural challenges or medical concerns that may arise. The Camp Director is responsible for communicating any issues of concern to parents, and will work with the parents and participants to resolve these issues.
- Track, organize, and file all registration information into our CampBrain software.
- Submit updates and reports to employer and camp support team; maintain clear communication with the support team about the progress of camp registrations and parent/director correspondences.

**Qualifications**
- **5+ years education or experience in children’s environmental education and/or recreational programming, community engagement, community programming, child and youth engagement, or any combination of these.**:

- Strong communication, leadership, administrative, and organizational skills, along with great attention to detail.
- Able to work independently as well as an inspiring leader in a team.
- Comfortable with leading/instructing teaching groups, delegating tasks to others, and enforcing behavioural policies if required.
- Ability to create, manage, and implement systems that will ensure positive camp experiences for everyone involved
- Flexible, versatile, and easygoing in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. Adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions. Cope effectively with complexity and change.
- Current standard First Aid & CPR Training.
- Provide a successful vulnerable sector police reference check.

**Assets**
- Knowledge of or experience providing positive behaviour support, social guidance, co-regulation and personal care for children with diverse abilities.
- Certification in High Five, NCCP, Canucks Autism Network, Physical Literacy 101, training in nature interpretation and education, and outdoor skill development.
- Experience with, comfortable around, and knowledge of farm animals.
- Knowledge and skills in food safety, healthy cooking, and nutrition.
- Knowledge of and experience with local Vancouver Island flora and fauna.
- Knowledge of and experience with organic gardening.

**Terms of employment**:

- Wage is $22.00-25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
