**Job Summary**:
Responsible for enforcement of the City by-laws by interpreting the by-laws and communicating these to the general public.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Deliver by-law specific information to the public, City staff, elected officials, industry specific members and other law enforcement staff.
- Investigate complaints, collect evidence and perform follow-up investigations to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Conduct thorough complaint investigations in order to achieve appropriate resolutions. When deemed necessary, take legal action in order to bring violators into conformity/compliance, providing professional testimony and evidence for court and tribunal hearings.
- Perform detailed inspections, maintaining accurate and detailed records/logs, databases of inspections.
- Review by-laws, operational procedures and policies, and recommend amendments, changes, etc.
- Attend Court to deal with by-law matters and provide testimony as needed

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Must have graduated from a recognized community college in discipline of law enforcement, security administration, criminal justice studies, or a by-law related course/major. Municipal Law Enforcement Officer certification is preferred
- 3-5 years working experience in related discipline is preferred
- Valid G driver’s licence with access to a vehicle for work, compensation will be provided for mileage
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs and appropriate City software.
- Primarily on the road conducting inspections and general patrols. Exposed to various temperatures and weather conditions. Also time spent in office environment.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 41.11 - $ 54.81
