Collingwood, Canada Pretty River Academy Full time

Pretty River Academy, a prestigious private school located in Collingwood, ON., is seeking to fill a Long Term Occasional, Education Assistant position.

Educational Assistants support students with exceptionalities such as physical disabilities, developmental delays, autism, behaviour disorders, acquired brain injuries, hearing and vision loss.

**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**:

- To assist students with personal and medical care in accordance with individual needs which may include administration of medication, feeding, dressing, toileting, hygiene, lifting and positioning and assistance with mobility.
- To supervise and assist with individual students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, field trips, excursions, bus arrivals and departures and other situations as required.
- To assist the teacher in the planning, development and implementation of the Students' Learning Plan (SLP)
- To deliver interventions or strategies as set out in the SLP
- To provide direct intervention, in accordance with student’s SLP, in managing behavioural and immediate safety needs of the students using the principles of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) addressing unsafe student behaviour in safe and supportive ways.

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Secondary School Graduation Diploma is required.
- Minimum 1 year related experience is required.
- Training in First Aid and CPR
- Training in de-escalation strategies (including CPI certification, where required), lifting and positioning techniques are requirements of this position.
