Package Operator

The Package Operator, as part of the Production team, is tasked with the safe and efficient packaging of the product to ensure maximum production and minimize downtime.

**Responsibilities**:

- Takes samples of various products throughout the day for the lab to ensure quality control
- Operates the groove-wheel and air bagging systems to produce a number of different products
- Assists in Quality Control by periodically weighing product to ensure they are within standard requirements
- Ensures all Barcoding is correct
- Properly fills out Production and Check-Weighing reports
- Safely and efficiently operates forklifts
- Ensures the effectiveness of machinery through the SAP system of work order generation
- Responsible for maintaining food quality, safety and legality
- Performing housekeeping tasks such as sweeping/washing floors, equipment, snow removal and similar duties
- Works within all Company Policies/Standards and Collective Agreement
- Complies with Environmental Regulations and Product Quality Control Standards
- Adheres to all Facility safety and environmental regulations
- Participates and Supports Company Safety Initiatives
- Writes all appropriate Safety Permits for his area to ensure safe maintenance procedures are adhered to
- Participates in Company Lock-out/ Tag-out program
- Supports reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
- Cross-trains in order to effectively substitute into other related Production positions
- Other related duties as assigned

**Requirements**:
Grade 12 or equivalent

Willing and capable of working shift work (Days, Nights & Weekends)
- Capable of effectively functioning in a fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing

environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good Interpersonal Skills.
- Ability to quickly and effectively analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to work independently and function within a Union Setting.
- Forklift training certification
- WHMIS
- CPR/First Aid Training

**Job Type**: 4-6 Month Contract - option to convert to Permanent based on Performance

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 4-6 months
