**Position overview**:
Located at our Scarborough facility, the Production Manager is responsible for the planning and the co-ordination and control of all manufacturing processes. The primary responsibility of the Production Manager is to ensure that all goods are produced efficiently, that they are of the right quality, quantity, cost and that they are produced on time. The Production Manager oversees all employees working in the manufacturing facility and motivates them to continue to perform up to the Merrithew Standard. Working closely with other Managers, this individual is a problem solver, people champion and seeks to improve productivity. This role reports directly to the Vice President, Operations.
**Major responsibilities**:
- Plan and direct the facility’s production activities to assure products are manufactured according to sales and operations plans in time with zero defects
- Focus and optimize labour utilization. Develop and ensure employee motivation, satisfaction and retention are in place to maintain a positive working environment
- Initiate plans and ideas for cost reductions and/or quality improvement
- Work with the Materials Manager to ensure all inventory levels are maintained in order to provide operators materials and tools to produce quality parts to standard
- Work with customer service team and ensure excellence
- Manage warehouse within the facility
- Elevate the Environmental, Health and Safety Culture through the design and delivery of programs and practices to ensure full compliance with ESA, and related regulations. Monitor improvements and make recommendations accordingly
- Manage, implement and monitor effectiveness of all initiatives generated to improve productivity (PPI program)
- Performs other duties as assigned
**Skills and qualifications**:
- A minimum of 7 years Production Management experience
- University degree in mechanical/industrial engineering, management or business administration
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques such as Standard Work, Kanban, 5S and Kaizen would be considered an asset
- General understanding of welding, carpentry, assembly and upholstery
- Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and leadership skills
- Strong customer service orientation skills
- Eager to learn new processes/systems and be proactive in continuous improvement
- Strong information seeking and problem solving abilities
- Proven track record in developing employees to attain higher performance standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and computer literacy
