**Work Description**
Reporting to the CEO, the Junior Controller is a member of the finance committee overseeing day-to-day and month/year-end accounting activities, capital improvement initiatives, and accounting within Dunrobin’s strategic business units. Working from home and on-site as a key resource for management, the position requires the ability to manage priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet filing deadlines without fail.
**Primary Responsibilities**
- Oversee day-to-day transactional accounting
- Prepare and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Manage the annual departmental budgeting process
- Perform financial reporting and analysis
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date filing systems for all financial supporting documentation
- Communicating with senior management on financial variances and strategies
- Working with project managers on project cost forecasting, timely invoicing and payment follow up, regular project reviews and status meetings, project reporting as required, regular checks of project bookings/assigned cost and corrections if required
- Build and manage system integration implementations and identify any methods to improve efficiencies
- Submission of tax remittances
- Liaising with external auditors
**Other Potential Responsibilities**
- Reviewing work prepared by two staff members, such as month-end recovery, and vendor account reconciliations, and assisting with the resolution of day-to-day issues faced by the staff, escalating to CEO or others as appropriate.
- Day-to-day management in accordance with policies and deadlines, and providing feedback and coaching to team members.
- Identify and bring forward ideas for possible improvements in day-to-day accounting functions, assisting with implementation where approved by management.
- Preparation, review, and analysis of financial reports, including cash flow forecasts, and monthly and annual reporting.
- Review or preparation and submission of required filings, including HST, subcontractor reporting, and various statements and reports as required.
- Provide support and participate in regular cross-training to provide coverage for other positions within the finance team as needed.
- Preparation of annual T5018 subcontractor reporting
- Determine agenda and steer manager participation within the finance team.
- Support, participate in and review the preparation of year-end audit files and working papers, liaising with the finance team and other stakeholders to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner.
- Participate in workforce planning and recruitment activities in conjunction with an internal Human Resources team, in team resource management and in the team performance review process.
- Prepare annual budgets and cash flow forecasts for presentation to senior management.
- Work closely with the CEO and contribute to the board of director packages.
- All other duties as required.
**Mandatory Qualifications & Experience**
- Post-secondary education in business, finance and/or accounting
- CPA designation or designation in process
- A minimum of 3 years full-cycle accounting experience
- Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written
- Expertise using Quickbooks Online
- Prior experience managing direct reports
- Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and a desire to challenge and improve current practices
- Proven ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks, ensuring deadlines are met
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience in a multi-business unit environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and approach situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.
**Definite Assets**
- Intermediate level skills with Google Workplace (docs, sheets, drive, mail, calendar, chat)
- Past involvement in the alcohol industry
- Working with project teams
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
