Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Assurance - Bridges & Structures, our Engineering & Asset Management (E&AM) - Bridges & Structures Office is looking for a Bridges and Structures Specialist (Assurance) to plan and implement engineering assurance activities for railway corridor and rapid transit related bridges and structures assets to support safe and reliable railway operations, in compliance with Metrolinx Bridge Standards.

**What will I be doing?**
- Provide technical expertise using engineering principles and practices to assess and verify compliance with technical requirements, guidelines and standards and/or define necessary remediation work within the Bridges & Structures asset class responsibilities including undertaking design reviews & audits, field inspections, condition assessments and the development of strategies for preventative and/or remediation work necessary to correct asset defects.
- Represent the E&AM - Bridges & Structures group for the delivery of technical work by agency retained and outsourced contracts.
- Coordinate and control technical requirement compliance assurance and undertake risk-based assurance and auditing initiatives, of agency performed and outsourced contracts throughout the asset lifecycle and under various contractual arrangements, in general conformance with EN 50126 principles.
- Collaborate with regulatory entities to ensure full compliance with prevailing safety regulatory policy, best practices, and new issues.
- Support the review of deviations to standards and technical requirements and compliance verification with agency processes for deviations to the requisite standards, safety case development and risk management controls.
- Oversee and control technical reviews and audits of design submittals, including for outsourced contracts, for compliance with standards, technical requirements, and codes, utilizing Safety in Design (SiD), Interdisciplinary Design Review (IDR) and System Engineering (SE) processes and principles.
- Coordinate and manage audits and reviews, and reporting on testing and commissioning plans, submittals, and activities for compliance with technical requirements, standards, and regulatory requirements, including for outsourced contracts.
- Support the development and clarification of scope, procurement of professional services, physical works, and maintenance contracts, including supporting in-market activities and responses to RFI’s and contract submittal review.
- Support the review and definition of recommendations for improvements in internal practices and processes and those of relevant delivery teams, contractors, and consultants and, as directed, lead improvement actions within the area of assigned accountability within the Bridges & Structures group.

**What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?**
- Completion of a degree in Civil Engineering, or a related discipline - or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in railway corridor and/ or rapid transit related structural engineering design and rehabilitation services.
- P.Eng. designation will be considered an asset.
