**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Engage students both in a classroom setting and on a one-on-one basis
- Work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Carry out treatment plans for speech sound intervention, under supervision of the SLP
- Assist in carrying out programming to support phonological awareness and pre-literacy skills
- Model and implement communication strategies during daily routines at preschool
- Assist the SLP and Coordinating Teacher with tasks such as file setup and material creation
- Develop, organize and maintain materials for programming
- Meet regularly with the SLP to discuss strategies and monitor progress
- Contribute positively as a collaborative member of the team, fostering a supporting workplace culture
- Document and communicate children’s progress to team members
- Participate in initiatives supporting the agency and the community
- Perform other duties as required.

**EDUCATION**
- Diploma in Speech Language Pathology Assistance (or equivalent education and experience may be considered).
- Experience in speech language pathology with preschool-aged children (3-5 years) is an asset
- Familiarity with pediatric motor speech disorders (e.g.: apraxia, dysarthria, speech motor delays) is an asset

**QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS**
- Experience:_
- Familiarity with Boardmaker/Lessonpix and Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC) methods (e.g.: communication boards, high-tech communication apps, basic ASL) is an asset
- Knowledge of pediatric speech disorders (e.g.: articulation delays, phonological delays, apraxia, dysarthria) is an asset
- Ability to engage and motivate preschool-aged children in both in-person and group settings
- Ability to manage groups of children
- Strong advocate for an inclusive philosophy, demonstrating respect for diversity and inclusivity
- Adaptable, flexible, reliable and able to manage time effectively
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Comfortable with frequent kneeling, squatting and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed for health and safety.
- Willingness to work occasional evening or weekend shifts for professional development or events.

**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Current Alberta Intervention Record Check (obtained within the past 6 months or more recent to hire date)
- Criminal Record Check (obtained within the past 6 months or more recent to hire date)
- Current certification in Standard Childcare First Aid with CPR/AED or Standard First Aid with CPR/AED

**WORKING CONDITIONS and CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
- Travel to and from WSA for meetings is required (mileage reimbursed)
- Periods of prolonged sitting, exposure to a computer screen
- Performing repetitive movements
- Occasional evenings and weekends for Community Options events, professional development or meetings

**SALARY**: $25.85 - $32.62 per hour based on education and experience

**JOB TYPE**: 6-month Contract

**HOURS PER WEEK**: 28 to 35 Hours per week

**EXPECTED START DATE**: January 6, 2025

**CONTRACT END DATE**: June 27, 2025 (possible extension in the new 2025/26 school year)
