**WHAT YOU'LL DO**

**Client Support**:

- Assess client’s needs, capabilities and resources.
- Assist clients to identify available resources and alternative means of support.
- Assess client's eligibility for Special Needs Program, GFA program and food bank.
- Assist client with disability form as required.
- Make referrals to other client services as required.
- Teach workshops on budgeting utilities, rent, food, household needs etc.
- Maintain healthy professional boundaries with clients and promote client independence
- Identify gaps in services and bring the information to the attention of the Director
- Work in cooperation with employment team to develop programs
- Work as a team member of the Health and Social Development Dept.

**Administration - Client Records**:

- Complete program forms promptly and professionally
- Maintain professional and accurate client service records
- Maintain an up to date filing system
- Update Manager/Director on community needs and concerns

**Administration - Programming**:

- Submit monthly narrative report of activities to the Manager/Director, by the first Friday of each month for the previous month’s activities.
- Consult with the Manager/Director on work plans and services.
- Submit monthly budget and development sheets to finance department.
- Prepare repayment agreements (RPAs) for clients and monitor and track RPAs monthly.
- Calculate, monitor and track all rent and utility payments.
- Attend scheduled team meetings with the ESD staff members and other meetings as requested by the manager.

**General**:

- Stay abreast of ISC regulations and policies that affect the delivery of the Social Assistance program.
- Advocate for Seabird Island Band Members’ and Community members’ rights and entitlements
- Be familiar with and adhere to the Seabird Island Band Personnel policies and procedures
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, or the ED.

**WHAT YOU BRING**

**Education**
- Social Services Worker Diploma and minimum of 3 years working in financial/social development field;
- Computer literacy in MS Office and other data management computer programs;
- Knowledge of basic budgeting and accounting principles;
- Valid BC Driver’s License, Class 5 & clean Driver’s Abstract
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector - CRRP

**Experience**
- Experience with the Indigenous and Northern Affairs Committee (INAC) Social Assistance programs ;
- Must have a strong understanding of finances, budgeting, event operation budgeting and proposal writing.
- Knowledge, respect, and understanding of Stó: lō culture, history, traditions, and language is considered an asset
- Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset
