**PURPOSE OF POSITION**:

- Under the direction of the Director, Representation and Legal Services Branch (RLSB), the position provides comprehensive and wide-ranging administrative services, as well as legal research services to support the Legal Officers in the administration, management, preparation and representation of complex legal cases of PSAC members in various areas.**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**_Education/Experience_**:

- The position requires legal administrative knowledge and the ability associated with a successful completion of legal secretarial training, or the equivalent, normally acquired through several years of experience in providing administrative services relevant to the duties of the position.

**_Knowledge_**:

- Proficiency in the use of a personal computer, including the use of the MS Office suite.
- Strong English and French written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Knowledge of applicable PSAC accounting guidelines to codify and process invoices and expense claims.
- Strong legal research skills, the ability to provide citations and find relevant case law or to perform research various legal databases such as Quicklaw, Ministry of Justice, Law Pro, etc.;
- Good knowledge of Federal Court, Administrative Tribunals and Canadian Human Rights Commission structures and practices.
- Understanding of trade union roles, objectives and activities.
- Understanding and commitment to trade union and equity principles.

**_Abilities_**:

- Ability to independently organize, plan and determine work priorities to meet strict deadlines, in an environment with multiple and competing priorities.
- Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure is required to deescalate potential confrontational situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Second language skills as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level indicated above.
